In the ASSITEJ workshop Powerplays, Theaterrevier looks back on two years of shared leadership with Drama Control. More and more cultural institutions with programmes for young audiences are inviting young people to become part of their decision-making processes. However, long-established hierarchies do not go away by themselves. Establishing new structures requires experimentation, effort and criticism. With Drama Control, Junges Schauspielhaus Bochum has been testing structures and work methods since 2019 to ensure that the voices, ideas, and criticism of young people are included from the very beginning. For the workshop Powerplays, young Drama Control members will take charge and lead the workshop themselves. Under their guidance, participants will take a playful look at power structures in a performative framework.
